General FAQ about inq for LivePen Customers
Will you continue to support LivePen?
Yes! We are committed to our LivePen customers. You can keep using LivePen without any changes if you wish. Everything will continue to work, and all your data remains secure.
Will my LivePen data be available in the inq app? Is my LivePen hardware compatible with the new inq app?
Yes to both: you can migrate your data from LivePen to inq, and your LivePen hardware works great with the new inq app. Switching is easy and free. Just follow these steps described above.
What if I already connected my LivePen to the inq app on my phone?
If you already installed the inq app and connected your LivePen to the inq app, you will need to do some special steps if you want to connect your new inq pen:
- Sign out of your account by tapping the Person icon on the main screen, and then tapping Sign Out. Make sure you see the sign-in screen. This step ensures all your data is saved to the cloud.
- Delete the app from your device - only after completing the step above. (Deleting the app without signing out first can result in data loss).
- Go to Bluetooth settings and Remove or "Forget" the old pen from the list of paired devices.
- Reinstall the inq app from the App Store or Play Store.
- Sign in again, then follow usual the prompts to:
- Allow bluetooth permission.
- Remove the cap from your new inq pen and accept Pair when prompted.
We know this is process is far from ideal, and we're urgently working on full support for multiple pens so you can seamlessly use multiple pens with inq. We expect proper multi-pen support to be available by Tuesday, August 5.
Will the LivePen app continue to work?
Yes, the LivePen app will continue to work, and we will continue to fix bugs and provide customer support for LivePen. However, at some point in the future we'll stop adding new features for LivePen. For a continual flow of new features and upgrades, you should switch to the inq app - switching is easy, fast, and free.
Will the LivePen app continue to be improved?
We will continue to fix bugs and provide customer support for LivePen, but we will stop adding new features to LivePen no later than August 31, 2025. For a continual flow of new features and upgrades, you should switch to the inq app - switching is easy, fast, and free.
I just bought a LivePen - and already a new, improved product has come out. What gives?
Anoto is committed to providing the best experience and product possible for our customers, and especially for our LivePen customers.
As a LivePen customer, you’re able to start using the inq app and inq notebooks right away. They’re fully compatible.
Is my LivePen hardware compatible with inq notebooks?
Yes, the LivePen hardware works with inq notebooks, but you will need to upgrade to the inq app. The LivePen app will not work with inq notebooks.
If I upgrade to inq, will I still be able to use my LivePen/Livescribe notebooks?
Yes. The inq app is also compatible with all the same notebooks that work with LivePen. (Older Livescribe notebooks that are not compatible with LivePen are also not compatible with inq).
If I upgrade to inq, will I still be able to use the LivePen app?
inq hardware is only compatible with the inq app. However, the inq app is strictly better than the LivePen app, and you won’t lose anything by switching from LivePen to inq.
